Prince George has a serious air quality problem and one would think that more people would be concerned. The medical statistics show that we have a serious health problem, or do they?
People with serious breathing problems probably do not last long in our town. Maybe the smart ones leave soon after they realize the long term costs to health. Families with serious asthma are advised to move if they can afford it and many do leave town.
The healthy are left to produce the sieve effect. Those who can tolerate bad air are left behind. Also young healthy adults can tolerate a lot of abuse, so Prince George can have a lot of young healthy adults left behind. But eventually, time and exposure will catch up to most, and even the very healthy will fail.
I am certain that the medical statistics of damage by fine particulate is real and significant for many long term residents of Prince George.
