An older, born in Prince George, wood burner responded to one of my letters about wood burning. It is encouraging that the letters are having some effect.
He explained that he was born, raised, schooled, etc in Prince George, has burned responsibly for the last 30 years and will continue to do so. He ends by wishing me well in my search for a perfect world. This may be intended as sarcasm, which usually does not come across that well in print, and requires a response.
Prince George is almost perfect for me. I moved here in 1977 to accept a teaching position and have stayed. I met a wonderful woman, have three children, and have a good job teaching math in a secondary school. There are lots of opportunities in Prince George for family and individual activities. We have an active sport, cultural and music community and all the higher education opportunities.
The only thing preventing a perfect world is the air quality. And wood burners are 25% of the problem according to recent research. There is bitterness over burning wood and bitterness by those who take offense. So I do not live in a perfect world but I will not stop trying to make it a better place with cleaner air.
