The earliest steam locomotives were powered by wood. They progressed to using coal and then to diesel or electricity as technology developed and efficiency improved. Wood could not compete with compact fuels or the improved efficiency of modern methods.

Why the return to the ancient ways with the biomass bandwagon? How did wood suddenly become so efficient? Who has decided that we should return to this outdated, inefficient fuel when it should be left to make soil? Do super-hot burners make the pollution load of wood better than the best coal burners? Who has decided that burning wood is carbon neutral and actually better than coal? Show me the science and the evidence!

Just because some members of city council are for wood burning does not mean it is a wise choice. Where are all the modern wood-burning cars?
